Directional Drilling

Directional Drill

In addition to pole replacement, reconductor work and other “above ground” utility work, ILB also has the capability to install electrical lines and conduits underground through guided boring methodologies. Since 1992, ILB has provided utility and commercial customers with the ability to replace primary and secondary electrical cables in backyard easements and other areas where it is no longer cost effective or feasible to install buried facilities by conventional open excavation applications. In many areas landscaping, development, high traffic roads, and environmentally sensitive areas make digging open trenches impossible. ILB has drilling equipment with the capability to drill through rocky conditions, clay, sand, cobbles, and gravel.

We have drill rigs that are small and maneuverable and able to handle backyard shots. We can also expand our capabilities to include installing conduit and cable with the capacity to carry transmission level voltages. Our directional drill rigs can place underground facilities in all types of terrain and soil conditions and can make individual drill shots of up to 1600 feet. We can use this technology to install transmission cable in rough coastal mountain areas or distribution power lines in congested downtown areas such as Portland, Oregon or Spokane, Washington.
